Members of EDMAAJ 2 youth team launch the “Heroines Against Bullying” initiative to support female athletes in Nablus.

As part of efforts to empower youth in addressing social bullying, nine university students from the second group of the EDMAAJ 2 youth team implemented the initiative titled “Champions Against Bullying”, aimed at supporting female athletes in Nablus Governorate and raising awareness of the bullying they face in the sports field.
The initiative emerged after one of the project’s participants shared her personal experience of being harassed for playing basketball. Her story sparked interest among her peers, who proposed and designed the initiative to shed light on the challenges faced by female athletes, including verbal bullying, appearance-related criticism, and undermining of their athletic achievements.
In the spirit of community partnership, Madarat Center for Community Development coordinated with Aybal Sports Club to facilitate the implementation of the initiative and ensure access to the targeted group. The activity was scheduled on a weekend to accommodate the athletes’ training schedules and allow both the girls and their mothers to actively participate in the awareness sessions.
The initiative’s activities focused on educating participants on how to deal with bullying, boosting self-confidence among the girls, and emphasizing the importance of empowering women in sports and supporting their accomplishments.
This initiative is part of a wider series of community actions led by the EDMAAJ 2 student team, aiming to foster positive societal change, promote a culture of acceptance and equality, and equip vulnerable groups with the tools to effectively combat bullying.
