EDMAAJ 2 Project

“Edmaj 2” students launch “My Life, My Choice” initiative to combat bullying against divorced women in Nablus.

In a bold youth initiative reflecting social awareness and human commitment, eight students from the first group of “EDMAAJ 2” youth project implemented a community initiative titled “My Life is My Choice,” which aimed to combat bullying against divorced women in Nablus and raise awareness about its psychological and social impacts on women and their children.

This initiative stemmed from a specialized workshop previously attended by team members, which addressed the issue of bullying against divorced women and was organized by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution. The workshop sparked the participants’ interest and motivated them to develop and implement the initiative, given the suffering they observed in this demographic and the verbal bullying their children faced related to their mothers’ social status.

The initiative targeted 31 divorced women and 13 of their children, in addition to 20 children from the Aibal Sports Club, through psychological and social support sessions for the women and emotional release sessions for the children via various interactive activities, including play, drawing, and singing.

These activities aimed to increase awareness among women and their children about the dangers of bullying, bolster women’s self-confidence, and empower them to face social challenges with assurance, alongside instilling concepts of acceptance and solidarity among children and encouraging them to express their feelings in healthy and safe ways.

This initiative is part of a series of community initiatives carried out by “EDMAAJ 2” students, as part of the project’s plan to empower university youth to lead positive change and address social challenges, especially the phenomenon of bullying in Palestinian society.
