“Baytna Project” – Central Bakery and Training & Production Kitchen
Baytna is a fully equipped professional central bakery and kitchen operated by Madarat Center for Community Development. It is located in the city of Nablus, between three Palestinian refugee camps, and directly targets women and youth from marginalized and low-income communities.
Baytna was established and equipped with the support of Oxfam and the European Union through the Agricultural Development Association, and functions as a practical model that combines real healthy food production with practice-based vocational training within a real working environment that reflects local market conditions.
Baytna provides specialized hands-on training programs in:
-
Healthy food production.
-
Food safety and quality control.
-
Food processing operations management.
-
Packaging and labeling.
-
Marketing and market linkage.
The project applies a learning-by-doing approach, enabling trainees to engage in all stages of the food value chain, from production to operations and marketing. This equips them with immediately applicable skills and prepares them for employment or for establishing small and medium-sized enterprises in the food processing sector.
Beyond training, Baytna serves as a platform for employment creation, income generation, and economic resilience building, particularly in light of the current economic challenges facing Palestinian communities.
Baytna represents one of Madarat’s leading practice-based vocational training models, where economic and social empowerment, market-oriented skills development, and adherence to European quality and accountability standards are fully integrated, generating sustainable impact at both individual and community levels.
Funded by: Oxfam and the European Union through the Agricultural Development Association.
