Excerpts from the Accountability Session Organized by the Youth Accountability Team in Nablus with the Village Council of (Deir Sharaf)
The session included a discussion between the council members and representatives from the Deir Sharaf Youth Club and the Women’s Association in the town. The dialogue focused on the extent to which the council had fulfilled the electoral promises outlined in its campaign regarding youth-related issues over the past three years since it assumed its duties as an elected body. It also examined the level of satisfaction among the town’s youth sector with the council’s achievements and the implementation of its commitments.
The session also featured the participation of the School Community Audit Committee, a newly established group composed of middle school students from the town’s school. This committee is being trained and empowered to play an oversight role in monitoring the council’s programs, activities, and transparency in fulfilling its duties. The initiative aims to instill accountability and oversight practices among young generations from an early age.
The “Project to Promote Citizenship and Accountability Values Among the Young Generation” is implemented in cooperation with the Central Elections Commission and funded by the European Union.
Despite the challenges, Palestinian youth continue to be agents of change—learning, engaging, and ensuring their voices are heard and impactful in their communities!
